Amin Husain

by

Amin Husain, a Palestinian-American activist, former NYU adjunct professor, and co-founder of multiple radical groups in New York City, has built his career on glorifying terrorism, inciting anti-American and antisemitic violence, and transforming art and academia into tools of insurgency. From subway sabotage to open support for terror organizations, Husain is one of the most dangerous radical organizers operating under the guise of social justice.

Inciting Violence in New York City

Husain co-founded Decolonize This Place (DTP), an anarchist collective responsible for multiple citywide disruptions, including the infamous “FTP” (F*** the Police) subway sabotage campaigns in 2019 and 2020. These “direct actions” vandalized transit infrastructure, cost the MTA over $100,000, and endangered commuters.

  • Encouraged subway sabotage, calling the system a “theater of operations.”
  • Published graphics advising rioters to “blind cops,” destroy ticket machines, and clog card readers with glue.
  • Shared slogans like “Punch that cop” and “All Cops Are Bastards — even your dad” while circulating Molotov cocktail imagery.

These actions weren’t isolated. They reflected a broader call for what Husain himself described as “militancy and insurgency.”

Denial of Hamas Atrocities

In December 2023, Husain denied Hamas’s October 7 atrocities during a “teach-in” at The New School, falsely telling students that stories of rape and child beheadings were “not true.” He referred to the massacre as a “liberation struggle” and said, “If you don’t like Hamas, free the land and the people.”
He also declared, “We live in a Zionist city… let’s be f**king real,” further dehumanizing Jewish New Yorkers and those who support the Jewish state’s right to exist.

Glorifying Terrorists and Martyrs

Husain has openly expressed admiration for leaders of U.S.-designated terror groups:

  • PFLP: Celebrated PFLP leader Ghassan Kanafani and called for “Freedom for Khalida Jarrar,” convicted for calling to kidnap Israeli soldiers.
  • PIJ: Visited PIJ leader Khader Adnan during the filming of The Coming Intifada, a film romanticizing violent uprising.
  • Hamas: Praised Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades spokesman Abu Obaida and shared graphics calling for the assassination of Jewish soldiers.
  • Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade: Shared posts glorifying commander Zakaria Zubeidi, responsible for multiple terror attacks.

Through his actions, Husain aligns himself with violent jihad and praises “martyrs” who have targeted civilians.

Anti-American Extremism

Husain’s ideology is deeply anti-American:

  • At a 2021 rally, he declared, “F*** this U.S. empire!” and praised the burning of NYPD precincts and American flags.
  • Referred to the U.S. as a “white supremacist colonial project” and urged crowds to make the government “obsolete.”

He routinely links his advocacy for “Palestinian liberation” to domestic insurgency, painting U.S. institutions, law enforcement, and capitalism as legitimate targets.

Radical Campus Influence and Professional Background

Husain taught at NYU, Pratt Institute, and The New School until 2024. Following his public denial of Hamas war crimes, NYU announced his suspension. The New School disaffiliated from him in 2019.
Despite holding law degrees from Indiana University and Columbia, Husain abandoned legal practice for radical organizing. He now uses art collectives like MTL and publications like Tidal Magazine to embed his ideology in cultural institutions.

  • Trained student activists in “the practice of freedom” via DTP’s paramilitary-style workshops.
  • Lectured about “burning precincts” and “taking this state down.”

Dangerous Alliances and Intimidation Tactics

Husain operates in close coordination with Within Our Lifetime (WOL) — a pro-Hamas street protest group notorious for glorifying violence against Jews and threatening Zionist donors. They have:

  • Burned Jewish state flags, threatened pro-Israel board members at MoMA, and projected “Fire to the colonizers!” onto buildings in Midtown Manhattan.
  • Declared: “We know where they’re at… We’re gonna go after them.”
  • Organized “Globalize the Intifada” campaigns targeting Jewish institutions.

Speaking of Intifadas, he is certainly a man who would know on personal level, the true terror such a movement would have in American society, and he wants it.

Self-Declared Participant in the First Intifada

Amin Husain has publicly claimed involvement in violent uprisings from a young age. In a 2016 speech at an anti-Zionist rally, he stated:
“Living 18 years in Palestine, I was fighting in the first uprising. I was throwing rocks, Molotov cocktails, the like.”
— Amin Husain, July 1, 2016
The First Intifada (1987–1993) was marked by widespread violence, including stabbings, shootings, and bombings. Palestinian rioters frequently targeted Israeli civilians, hijacked buses, and used firebombs as weapons. By openly admitting to participating in these activities — including the use of Molotov cocktails — Husain revealed not only a personal history of radicalism but a lifelong commitment to violent resistance.
Rather than distancing himself from this violent past, Husain uses it as a point of pride and a model for the next generation of radical activists.

A National Security Concern

Amin Husain’s record is not one of peaceful protest or principled dissent. It is one of:

  • Inciting citywide violence.
  • Endorsing known terror groups.
  • Denying mass atrocities.
  • Targeting Jewish individuals and institutions.
  • Encouraging rebellion against the U.S. government.

His continued presence on campuses and cultural institutions is a risk to public safety, campus climate, and the integrity of open discourse.
